What’s the nicest thing anyone has ever said to you at work?
Think about it.
Did it have an effect on how you did your work? Is there a reason why it has stuck with you for so long?
Turns out, according to Gallup, one the most effective ways to accelerate performance is also one of the least used: Praise. They found that only one in three workers “strongly agree” that they received recognition or praise in the past seven days for doing good work – and those who disagreed were twice as likely to say they’ll quit in the next year.
Yikes.
But that’s not all! Gallup also found that praising teams:
- Encourages collaboration
- Clarifies organizational goals
- Enhances agility
- Reinforces a sense of meaning and purpose
- Improves quality
- Inspires trust
These findings are 100% aligned with our mission at RecogNation to bring about transformational change in organizations through connection and recognition, even if it starts with learning how to praise someone professionally.
